Chidrearing Support
Before entering elementary school, children can receive education or care from daycare center or kindergarten. If your child goes to daycare center or kindergarten, you will be eligible to receive childcare subsidies or childcare expense support.
Daycare Center
These facilities provide nursery care and education for children aged 0-5 to help them grow safe and healthily while guaranteeing development in terms of body awareness, language, cognitive and emotional conditions. Childcare subsidies may differ according to the age of the child and the type of daycare center they attend. Tuition subsidies are available for the following households.
- Infant care subsidy: infants aged 0~5 who are attending a daycare center (amount may differ according to age).
- Disabled child subsidy: disabled children aged less than 12 years old and attending a daycare center.
- Application method: in-person visit to the eup, myeon and dong (for the child’s address) community centers. On-line application through the bokjiro website (www.bokjiro.go.kr).
Kindergarten
Kindergartens provide education for children aged 3-5 reflecting day-to-day life and the individual child’s personality, interest and demands. Infant school expenses are provided by the government, and the amount given may differ according to the type of kindergarten. You may benefit from infant school expenses if you fall under any of the following categories:
- Infant school expenses: KRW 60,000 per month per person for national kindergartens / KRW 220,000 per month per person for private kindergartens.
- Expenses for after-school courses: KRW 50,000 per month per person for national kindergartens / KRW 70,000 per month per person for private kindergartens.
- Application method: in-person visit to the eup, myeon and dong (for the child’s address) community centers. On-line application through the bokjiro website (www.bokjiro.go.kr).
